Challenge
Despite the rising demand for online learning, users found it challenging to discover engaging, high-quality courses that matched their interests, and instructors struggled to reach and retain their target audience. We needed to design a platform that connects learners with personalized course recommendations while providing instructors with effective tools to grow and engage their audience, ensuring a rewarding experience for both groups.

Our problem
Skillshare aims to offer a diverse range of online courses, but users often struggle to find content that matches their interests, leading to low engagement and satisfaction. Instructors also face challenges in reaching and retaining their target audience due to limited visibility and tools. The platform needs a solution that enhances course discoverability, supports instructors in growing their audience, and fosters a more engaging learning experience for users

How might we improve course discovery to help users easily find content that matches their interests and learning goals?
How might we empower instructors to better reach and engage their target audience, enhancing their ability to grow and retain a loyal student base?
How might we create a more interactive and engaging learning experience that encourages users to stay committed and return to the platform regularly?

The Skillshare design sprint used the Double Diamond method for organization and focus. The team conducted user research with 20 screener surveys, 10 interviews, and competitive analysis to understand the online learning industry. Insights from the "define" stage shaped features, visual design, and information architecture. Two rounds of design iterations and usability tests with 5 users each helped refine the final solution.
